Nothing like a quick run to shake off the cabin fever that sets in during a major holiday. The day after Christmas we made a quick run out to an area known as the Ranch, located around milepost 13 past Lake Pleasant.
First hill

This area has a lot of dessert washes and hill climbs. Here is a rocky outcropping we played on for a while.

I'm next.

Here's the same area from another angle.

Oh yeah! Stuck

This spot is to the left of the above pictures. I decided to try and go down it. I made it down the first part ok but got hung up trying to navigate the tight turn at the bottom on the next stair step. Can't wait for my locker.

Another bunch of rocks. The other reason for this trip was to show our out of state visitor, Tim Justice, a little bit of Arizona 4 wheeling. Tim was a great spotter and hopefully his job hunting will bring him to Arizona.

Part II: We went back to this area a few days later to show some other visitors around and found a great trail that looped around towards Lake Pleasant. It featured a lot of great hill climbs and some really spectacular views.

Looking towards Lake Pleasant.

Nice hill

This is a really challenging hill we found at the end of the run. Ken made the first attempt, he got almost to the top but stopped upon reaching a ledge. I then tried it, made it to the ledge and lost traction. I backed down a couple feet and nudged the gas while holding the brake and releasing the clutch. I found a good line to the left and made it to the top, no momentum required.

Ken made it the second time using the same line I tried. Looks pretty steep from this perspective.

Lake Pleasant

The view from the top, looking east at Lake Pleasant. As you can tell we did not have a white X-mas, I did get a little sunburn on this trip out....
