October 2000 ASA4WDC Jamboree - Page 2

Tom approaching the waterfalls.

A little water and mud equals no traction.  I could see why the official run took so long getting thru here.  At least with a Samurai one person can give it a helping push.

We got stuck here behind the first group of Jeeps.  Apparently one of them broke a rear driveshaft.  About a half hour later they started moving again and immediately stopped again, the same person broke their front driveshaft.  While we waited I figured I'd see what my new springs could do.

On the way back to camp we stopped at Lower Woodpecker to what everyone play in the wash.  This guy couldn't get around this Jeep so he tried to drive over it and nearly rolled in the process. Two hours later this was running with 2-3 feet of water.

Camp the next morning, no change in the weather.

Here's the flash flood we almost got caught in.   We were on the little section of road that is bordered by the wash, about to turn into the wash when a wall of water swept past the lead vehicle.  It was all we could do to get turned around and back across the wash before the water cut us off.  By the time the third Samurai hit the water it was 1-2ft deep, he just made it across.  The second picture is looking up around the bend.

Water is fun, but I am still finding sand everywhere.
