The Treasure Hunt is hosted by the Copperstate 4WD Club. This years event was held out in Superior and was a two day event. Saturday was the actual Treasure Hunt and Sunday the club hosted several runs of varying degrees of difficulty.

Saturday didn't get off to a good start. My friends daughter lost control of her 3 week old Cherokee and rolled it as we were on the way out to the starting line of the event. Luckily everyone inside was wearing a seatbelt and no one was injured. We were able to get the vehicle back on its wheels and even drove it back to camp.

If you have allergies you probably already know the desert is in full bloom thanks to all the rains we have had this year. Our group ran run "A" first. We followed ribbons to checkpoints which had word scramblers and puzzles where you had to count the number of items hidden in a picture. We were also told there were shamrocks positioned along side the trail and we would need to count them. The Copperstater's are always looking for ways to fool the entrants and they pulled a really good trick this time by placing a lot of 4 leaf clovers on the trail (in addition to the 3 leaf shamrocks we were supposed to be counting). Very few people noticed the subtle difference.

As you can see there really wasn't any need for 4 wheel drive, though the trail was very enjoyable thanks to the rich desert scenery.
