December 2002 - Turkey on the Rocks, The First Night Trail Rating - Varies Trip Leader: BTG Rockcrawlers Photos submitted by Chris Villarreal There were quite a few people out for the event early on Thursday. I arrived just after sundown. After everyone setup their camps we gathered a group of wheelers and headed out to run some trails. We made a quite run thru Lower Terminator and then headed to Predator.

Let the carnage begin! Right at the end of Predator the knuckle broke (D60) on a Campbell built rock buggy. We ran Adam, the owner, back to camp to get his truck and trail and helped him get it off the trail and loaded. On our way back to camp we ran into Larry and Todd. Todd made the trip from California and Larry was taking him out for a night run on Anaconda. We turned the remaining group around and headed back towards Anaconda.
Here's Todd on the last obstacle. I started to give him a push from behind with my push bar and he started to move forward again only to snap a rear axle moments later. He ended up winching the rest of the way.
The last two times I tried this trail either I broke or someone else broke. This time I made it all the way thru and without winching thanks to my longer wheelbase. This is the last major climb on the trail. I was having a few lighting issues and my lights were going on and off throughout the night.

We made it back to camp around midnight and stood around the campfire. I think we all decided to hit the sack around 3:30am. |
