April 2003 - Ruby Wash
Trail Rating - 3.0
Photos submitted by Chris Villarreal, Nasser Pirshafiey
A small group of us set out to pre-run the Ruby Wash for the April Rough Rider run. I had run this previously last September. The rains we had this spring really re-arranged things. At times it was hard to tell if we were still on the road or not.

Just 4 of us.
With the back end of my rig being so light now, I actually had problems getting traction on small, loose inclines like this. I started using 4 high, something I hadn't done before since it would bog down my old 1.3l motor. I plan on moving my tools and spares to a new rack above and behind the rear axle, we'll see if the weight shift helps.
These trails are on BLM land and not used too much. I didn't see any tracks unlike the last time out.
We ended up behind the small peak near the center of the second picture (way off in the distance).
This trail actually starts out in the Trilby wash, then transitions over some hills before dropping into the Ruby wash. This section is pretty narrow, and was one of the spots we were here to make sure was still passable.
One of the side obstacles in the main wash. There is a bypass to the right.
Nasser coming thru the same section.
