May 2003 - Landslide - Page 2
About the middle of the trail is where the real fun starts. This climb can be very challenging and is one spot where extra articulation comes in handy.
I didn't make this climb last time. I played around on it for a while and finally found a line that would work. First I straddled the notch and got my front tires up on top. Straddling it was hard since my width is just enough to touch each side. Once the front tires were up I had to maneuver so the drivers side rear tire sidewall would ride up the rocks next to it in the first picture. From there it was just a matter of giving it just enough gas to keep forward movement.
I walked back to the rest of the group, Scott was fighting with these rocks.
The group heading towards the ledge.
Scott is still trying to find a line that'll work. I think without a lot of rear articulation your kind stuck with trying to drive out of the hole with the front end way up in the air.
Here's a good flash vs. no flash comparison. Notice all the extra shadows the driver has to deal with.
