Trail Rating - 2 Diamonds

This was probably the easiest of the double diamond trails we ran, however there were optional obstacles on it that our group was not setup to run, as in our tires were way to small.  Again, after a small run thru the forest you were soon climbing up and down the hills with lots of tight turns, one a near 180 degrees.

At the top of the first hill were three crazy lines along with a bypass.  The first line was a 7 or 8 foot sheer wall, no way I could do that, second line was huge notch.  To straddle the notch you needed to get the drivers side tire up on a roughly 6 foot tall ledge.  I got the tire up there but when I went forward started to roll and eventually went over after trying to drive out of it.  After getting my rig back onto its wheel via Jacks winch I tried the 3rd line which was another notch although smaller and not off camber.  I made it but not before getting the rear tire stuck under an undercut and powering thru it. I thought the tire would pop out from under it quicker but Mark thought something was going to blow and jumped back.  Jack followed me up the 3rd line with everyone else taking the bypass.

Here's a typical scene from the top of one of the ridges the trail back down has you snaking between trees and rocks all the way back to the bottom.

Pat coming up one of the last climbs.  We got a little lost coming back to camp and stumbled upon a scary looking climb which looked like it hadn't seen much use.  We backtracked a ways before heading down a trail called Freefall which took us back to the main access road for the trails.  We finally made it back to camp, all of us looking forward to Saturday and a trip to Navajo Lake.
