No better way to start the new year than with some good 4 wheeling.  We attempted to run a trail called Resolution but couldn't reach the trailhead due to the swollen washes.  I would hate to have been there a few days ago, there were clear signs of the water levels being much higher.  We also noticed all the mining roads close to the creek beds were pretty much wiped out and unrecognizable.

We crossed the creek at several points following the mining road, most of the sections were 3+ feet deep.  Several times I headed in only to have water rushing near my hood line so I quickly backed out.

About halfway to Resolution we hit this deep section, the old road was completely wiped out.  Jack got in pretty deep and backtracked out.

Since Scott had the biggest tires (42" Irok's) we made him try to find a shallow spot, he actually stumbled into a deep spot that send water cascading over his hood.

He was able to gun it and made it to the other side.

Pat and Cary tried crossing a little further down but it was still deep.

Jack followed their line but hit a big rock which stopped him for a moment, he hit the gas and charged out of there.  Nothing like water running over your shoes to get your blood flowing.

We eventually gave up, the next crossing was even deeper so we backtracked.

Apparently following a horror movie theme this trail is called "Seed of Chucky", SOC for short.  It's got a pretty impressive gatekeeper which gave us fits due to the wet sand at the bottom.

The only way to tackle it was thru the use of momentum, Scott lined up and rocketed up the face, once he made it halfway up he slowed down and crawled by the big notch, nearly rolling it over in the process.

I was real impressed at how well the Irok's hooked up.  He did have to use a little throttle but the wet tires were grabbing way better than mine were on this type of rock.

Once he got to the top we knew we had to try again, the gauntlet had been thrown down.

Jack was able to follow Scott's line although some of the holes near the midpoint really swallowed up his 40" tires.

The next fall was winch only, too steep and loose to drive it.
