The crack isn't too friendly to narrow axels now.  The line you have to crawl is pretty precise and the wet rocks just were not   letting my tires get any traction.

So I bypassed the crack and tried crossing it further up.  The front axle caught on the edge of the rock wall causing the back end to swing around pulling me right into the crack. As a side not there is a bypass to the crack so there really is no reason for rocks to be put in there.

I could move back and forth a bit but eventually used the winch to pull myself forward.

Scott and Jack both made it up pretty easily, extra width helps a lot.

The last ledge was a real challenge in the rain.  If you have enough belly clearance the best way is to go up  on the left where the white strip is on the rocks. Once you get the front tires up you can bump the gas and climb it.   My new buggy is lower and longer than my old one and that line didn't work for me.  I tried something new this time, going high up the wall to the right, it worked good until my front tires reached the smooth rocks at the top, we did a little tug of war on my winch line and I made it.

Scott and Jack both taking the usual line.

Cary had a tough time in the notch and eventually bypassed it.  Getting the tires to climb the wet wall on the passenger side with just the sidewalls was the key here.

Despite the narrow axles Jay found the line and crawled up the crack, very impressive.

By this time we were all pretty sore from moving rocks and sand so we wheeled the rest of the trail in a mix of rain and sleet.  The next obstacle that needs some work is the double waterfall.  The base of the first one is colleting sand that is being trapped by rocks that were spit out from the piles at the base of the waterfall.

On the way back out the clouds turned black and unleashed a steady stream of rain.  At that point the goal was to get back to the trucks ASAP, since I was already muddy I hit all the big puddles as fast I could.  I easily hydroplaned over some of them but the deeper ones caught the axle and sent a wave of muddy water up over the hood!  Fun stuff.
