We took the rig out for a final shakedown run before our trip to the Hammers next weekend.  It's been a while since I had been out to the old Spook Rally campsite and I was amazed at the changes the area had undertaken.  The BLM has fenced off the camp areas, installed restrooms and created a kids riding area.

We figured there were at least 30-50 toy haulers at the camping area for President's Day weekend.

The trails are all washes/roads up and down the hills, old school wheeling. We did find a few rocks. Out on the trails we must have passed at least 20-30 guys on dirt bikes and about the same number of side by sides.  Early in the run I started to have a loss of power like the previous weekend.  I thought some water on the ignition module may have been the culprit but there was no water out there.  At the first rest stop I did some more poking around and discovered the water pump was not running despite the relay showing voltage.  After swapping the relay out the pump sprang back to life.  I am pretty sure the loss of power was the PCM cutting some of the cylinders to keep the motor from overheating.  My water temperature gauge was only reading 150 degrees when the PCM was cutting the cylinders so I need to move it somewhere else (it is presently plugged into the loop where the old heater core would have connected to the motor).

Lake Pleasant in the distance.

I remember running this loop way back when I had my old red Samurai.

Late in the afternoon a few of us set out to try to find Jack's Rock.  After some searching we finally stumbled upon the obstacle which is a large flat rock face.

The normal line on Jack's Rock was pretty easy so I tried the steeper part to the left, after a few feeler attempts I gave it a pretty good bump and went right up.

We also found a small rocky chute which was pretty fun.
