The goal for this weekend was to drive north till we found some snow to drive
in.

Persistence paid off and we hit pay dirt.

3-4 feet of powdery snow seemed to be the limits of my 35's.

Caught a tree branch and took out a sidewall in one of the tires.

This area had 4-5 foot drifts and if you didn't maintain enough momentum you
were done for. This was actually facing downhill.

And now for the rant. What exactly do our forest service stewards do
once the snow falls? Everything was closed on the rim and the perfect
sledding area was patrolled by the highway patrol gestapo who enforced the
closure of the area. Give me a freaking break - where can a person take
their family for a day of sledding, snowmobiling or cross country skiing on
public land here in Arizona?
