A few of us headed out to run PMF last weekend.

Early on Brian noticed my transmission and transfer case moving around more
than they should. Sure enough I had lost one transmission mount bolt and
the other was barely hanging in there. After a half hour repair session we
were back moving again.

Coming thru the squeeze.

Brian crawling thru the notch.

The stretcher was as mean as ever, I nearly had it but slid in which put a
few scratches on my shiny new body panels. About this point I noticed some new
motor rattles that occurred when I gave it some gas.

Scott made it up the stretcher for what may have been the first time.

This obstacle is pretty tough on narrow rigs as Brian discovered. He
had to winch it after his motor started knocking.

Towards the end of the trail I had a pretty loud racket coming from what
sounded like the engine. I limped it back out to the trailer and by the
time I got there the noise was constant and sounded like someone tossed some
marbles into the engine. I was sick the next week and didn't get a chance
to investigate the noise further but was pretty sure I blew the motor. I
had ordered parts to get my spare block up and running and was about to start
taking stuff apart when a friend stopped by. I showed him the noise he
noticed it was louder on the passenger side and sounded like it was coming from
the bell housing. I had checked for a broken flex plate but after
inspecting it a second time we discovered the torque converter bolts were all
loose! Most likely from when the transmission was flopping around.
Anyway nothing like discovering what you thought was a blown motor was something
much simpler and cheaper to fix.....
