You can see why this is a popular spot t hike around, the river cuts thru solid rock at a fast pace.

There were more pools above the first after which the rivers snakes back and forth.

Looking back towards the trucks.

Looking back down the valley we had driven up.

Further upstream you can see how the river snakes thru the rocks creating waterfalls and whirlpools.

Some of Keith's family and friends made a memorial on the hill above his truck while his Dad made us lunch.  One of the biggest concerns was how to start the truck as the keys were never found. An extra key was found on the dash of one of the people who had been hiking with Keith.  Thankfully the key worked as we were not sure how we were going to break the steering column lock.

We started heading back to the highway around 5pm.

These two shots and the panoramic below show the large grassy area that spanned between the two valleys.  We saw several bald eagles while traversing this section.

One of the many river crossings and the start of the climb leading up Monument Hill.

Racing near the top.

Some shots from the top.

Nearing the roadway we worked our way back across some of the earlier mud pits.

Some of the guys tried the harder (deeper) lines.

We ran into the Unimog near the end of the trail.  The guy had gotten some help pulling it backwards out of the mud hole and chaining up the tires got him to this point.
