This was the planned 4 wheeling trip setup by my brother-in-law Dan. Again,
the weather held and we had a partly sunny day almost the entire trip

Meeting at town to gas up and buy supplies.

We were driving the Green Tree Fab shop truck which Dan had been working on
right up until the previous evening when he attached the partially built rear
bumper.

This trail runs up past Ruby Lake outside of Palmer Alaska. The lower
section was heavily wooded .

Eventually the trail started to climb.

Muddy sections like this were typical in between climbs and descents.

Everyone in our group was running a single locker in the rear and an open
front. This meant some of the mud holes required momentum to make it thru and
you had to line up the front end good on the climbs.

Winding our way higher up one of the hillsides.

After stopping for a short break we started in on the toughest section of
trail which had us traveling along the hillside with the brush close in on both
sides.

I was told this section of trail can be brutal when I rains and I could see
why. With an open front differential, navigating around the boulders in
the trail took some concentration and a little momentum at times.

It was a good thing Dan got the rock sliders done on our truck because they
got used.

he boulder did a few sheet metal modifications on Chris's long bed.

Once past the rock you turned up the hill and rode the momentum up and over.
Most of us took a few tries to get the right amount of speed.
