The desire to beef up the transfer case and front axle on Cary's Toyota based rock buggy got this project started.

The buggy will still be powered by Cary's turbocharged, propane fed 22RE but the old 5 speed transmission will be replaced with a  C4 to aid in hill climbs.

Some shots of the custom Spider 9 axle that will make it's home in front of the buggy.  The spirit of the old Toyota will live on in the for of some Longfield D60 CV axles.

The new front axle mocked up in front of the buggy.

To accommodate the link suspension up front, Cary decided to cut off the stock frame and re-tube the front end.

Some shots of the C4 bolted to the 22RE.  Cary went with a  3 speed Atlas transfer case to eliminate the weak link in the old Toyota transfer cases.  This is the "fix" once you start breaking rear output shafts on the Toyota cases :)

Update - 8/07

More progress as the front axle and links take shape.

Flex test.....

The tack welds failed curing the flex test but at least Cary has a forklift to pick up the pieces with.....

October 2007, the test run was a success.
